Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most jobs that my students will be doing in the future haven't even been created yet. However, most of them will be in some sort of computer programming. This would be an awesome way to show them different ways you can code or program robots.
My students are very curious, talkative, and hands-on learners.
I teach at an urban, Title I school, where over 97% of the students are economically disadvantaged, so there is a high need to cope with poverty and academic needs.
My Project
I would like to create small packages to send to our younger students. There are so many learning concepts that can be taught with dice such as place value, comparing numbers and just basic counting. The dominoes and money will be utilized with the dice for simple games that parents are able to grasp easily.
Math Kits for Home project is extremely important to me because my students will not have the technology to use at home during this time of crisis.
As a Title I school, we do not have one-one technology. All too often the older students receive Chromebooks, laptops, or other technology resources. The crucial time for learning is in the early grades, however many times they are dismissed because the concepts are not difficult to grasp. However, if you are a parent who does not know what to do or how to help their child then precious time can be lost. I truly believe that the equity gap will increase if we do not get something into the hands of our children.
