My Project

My kindergarten students are obsessed with Mo Willems books and his characters of Elephant, Piggie, and of course Pigeon. These are the most popular book titles in our classroom library and we need more!

As my kindergarteners are beginning to read, Mo Willems books are a perfect companion for their journey.

Simply written with lots of repetition and beautiful illustrations, Mo's books are perfect for individual and partner reading and acting out the story plot. Additionally, through the characters, we learn many life lessons. Pigeon teaches us to take changes (Roller Coaster book) to the importance of staying clean (Take a Bath book). Elephant and Piggie teach us lessons about friendship (My New Friend is So Fun book), empathy (My Friend is Sad), and taking chances (Today I Will Fly book).

Simply put, these books, written beautifully with grace and humor, are perfect and will help me reach my goal of having my students read books they love, finding joy in books and characters, and helping them become life long readers.
