Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic learners. They are happy to be back in school and try their best every day to learn the material being taught. They are working hard and increasing their knowledge every day.

My students love to learn new things and collaborate with their classmates.

Teamwork is a huge part of our school day. My students are great at small group work and help each other whenever they can. They are working on college and career readiness skills every day.

My students are amazing young people. They are back in school after being at home for over a year. They got used to learning from the comfort of their own home and now they are forced to sit in hard school chairs. Please help me give them a softer, more comfortable option.

My Project

These materials will be used collaboratively by pairs or small groups in my class. The students will work on following directions and communicating with their groups while they build each Lego structure. The students will have to work together to write a story to match the Lego structure they have built. Then they will make a stop-action movie of their story using the Lego people and the Lego structure as props. They will also use iMovie to add sound to their final product. The terrarium will be used to see hydroponics in action. The students will attempt to grow various plants in just water. There are many experiments we can do comparing plants grown in soil vs. plants grown in just water.

These materials will bring hands-on learning opportunities to my students.

They will allow the students to work with each other, share ideas and observations, and explore different concepts. They will work on fine motor skills and direction following while having fun with their classmates.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
