My students are as unique as they come. I have students that range from the earliest levels of reading to chapter book masters. Regardless of their test scores or reading levels, all of my students have a genuine love for learning that keeps me on my toes and always looking for new ways to encourage their personal growth.
When faced with difficult situations, my students prosper.
Whether it be a long bus ride to school or having to learn in a glass room with window-walls in the middle of a library, my students are always coming to school with a growth mindset and a desire to be the greatest young people they can be.
My students are located in what we call the Glassroom. The Glassroom is a partitioned space in the middle school library where my 15 2nd graders share the space with middle schoolers and another 2nd grade class. The room is partitioned with glass walls that do not reach the ceiling. We have installed curtains to mitigate the visual distractions, but our students are frequently distracted by the sounds of nearby classrooms and passing students. This is where the noise-canceling earphones become a necessity.
For testing, our students need silence to be able to focus and with our glass walls and the adjacent commotion, this is out of my control as a teacher.
