Learning Hawai'i's Story

Help me give my students a laminator and laminator pouches to protect their projects and work. Also 25 copies of Hawaii's Story for students to read.

My Project

The use of a classroom laminator and pouches will allow students to preserve and protect their projects such as one pagers and other artwork that captures the history and culture that they learn about in History of the Hawaiian Kingdom and Pacific Island Studies. I also plan on using the laminator to save student examples for my future classes to view in my classroom

The 25 copies of Hawai'i's Story by Liliuokalani will help be promote literacy in my classroom while also intertwining content.

This book will allow students to read Hawaii's Story from the perspective and narrative of Hawai'i's Queen Lili'uokalani. I plan on using this book throughout our first semester as we go through Hawai'i's history.

The other items such as the stickers, football, and more will be used for the students social and emotional learning. The stickers will serve as motivational reminders for the students to look at when they need a reminder or boost. At the end of the day sometimes the students are allowed to play outside, a lot of my students like to play football and it really allows them to play and work with their peers.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
