Reading has become something they look forward to every day.\r\n\r\nOur classroom is also more organized and fun, thanks to the supplies you gave us like glue, a glue gun, a laminator, batteries, and desk organizers. Our \"Games for Growth\" project has completely changed our advisory time. The moment the boxes were opened and the students saw the new things—especially the boards for Mancala, the fun cards for UNO, and the big game board for Connect 4—their faces lit up! They were so excited and immediately gathered around to open it. The new resources have made our advisory time more fun and focused on getting along, sharing ideas, and working as a team. It shows them that learning how to be a good friend and teammate is just as important as classroom lessons.\r\n\r\nThe real difference these games make is in how they help us practice life skills. For example, we used Mancala to practice being patient and thinking before we act. Simple strategy games like Connect 4 teach them how to plan their moves and look ahead, which helps them make better choices in their day-to-day life. Games like these teach them how to handle winning and losing, how to listen to others, and how to cheer on their classmates. We're not just playing; we are building important skills like problem-solving and communication that help them every single day.\r\n\r\nNext time, we will use Monopoly to have great discussions about fairness, saving money, and setting personal goals for the rest of the school year. The tools you provided a speaker, wireless pointer, and dust buster have truly made a difference in my science classroom and during our advisory time.\r\n\r\nIn science, we often use slide presentations and educational videos to introduce new concepts or review key ideas. The wireless pointer has been a game-changer for me. I now move freely around the room while guiding students through slides, which keeps them more engaged and allows me to better manage the classroom as I teach. Students stay focused because I'm not stuck at the front, I'm right there with them, answering questions and checking for understanding in real time.\r\n\r\nThe speaker has also been a huge help, especially when we watch science videos or go through announcements during advisory. Everyone can hear clearly, even students in the back. One of my students is deaf-impaired and relies on both captions and strong, clear audio to follow along. Thanks to the speaker, they're more connected and involved during class discussions and activities. Even the dust buster has found its place in our routine. The materials I incorporated into my classroom significantly improved clarity, structure, and student engagement. The Class Rules poster served as a constant visual reminder of expectations, helping to reinforce positive behavior and promote consistency. By having the rules clearly displayed, students were more likely to follow them independently, reducing the need for repeated verbal reminders. The birthday poster added a personal, community-centered element to our advisory time. With their help, we put it all together. It helped build a sense of belonging, as students felt seen and celebrated. Similarly, the calendar helped students keep track of important dates and upcoming classroom or school events, reducing confusion and encouraging planning skills. The double-sided tape allowed me to post materials neatly and securely around the room without distractions from clutter or damage to walls. This helped maintain a clean and organized environment, which supports focus and a calm classroom atmosphere. The digital clock became a valuable tool for accountability and self-management. Students used it when signing in and out for the bathroom log, encouraging responsibility and minimizing disruptions. It also gave students a clear reference point for managing their own time throughout the day.\r\n\r\nTogether, these materials supported a classroom environment that was not only visually clear and structured but also emotionally supportive and student-centered.","fullyFundedDate":1756083682584,"projectUrl":"project/clear-rules-calm-classroom/9613450/","projectTitle":"Clear Rules, Calm Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cassiday","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9715931"},{"teacherId":7945990,"projectId":9273950,"letterContent":"I cannot thank you enough for your generosity in supporting our English Language Learners (ELL) at our school. Many of them had never worked with hands-on science tools like these before, so their faces lit up with anticipation. Students eagerly gathered around the supplies, asking questions and brainstorming ideas before we had even introduced the lesson. One student even said, \"This looks like something real scientists use!\" That moment set the tone for an engaging and inquiry-driven learning experience.\r\n\r\nWe used the new materials in a project where students built their own electromagnets and tested their strength by lifting paper clips and other small objects. They explored the invisible forces behind magnetism by observing how iron filings align along magnetic fields and how the number of wire coils affects the power of an electromagnet. These activities helped them develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, while also deepening their understanding of core science concepts in a fun and memorable way.","fullyFundedDate":1742089418583,"projectUrl":"project/invisible-forces-power-of-magnetism-and/9151384/","projectTitle":"Invisible Forces: Power of Magnetism and Electromagnetism","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shidaki","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9375426"},{"teacherId":9257818,"projectId":9168300,"letterContent":"My students were so excited when they first saw the new materials! It helped the students really connect to our Earth science unit. Now, we're moving on to learning about forces, and the balancing game will help students explore gravity in a fun way. We'll also keep using board and card games to build teamwork and communication skills. When I first announced to the students that this was a museum they were not very excited. Once they realized they would get to interact and touch each of the exhibits they lit up. Seeing them get to put their analytical and curiosity to practical use was both exhilarating and hopeful. One of my boys who struggles with his grades and attitude towards school was so excited about the activity that he proudly proclaimed that this was his favorite lesson. For many of my students they had never seen these objects in real life let alone hold them. It also gives them a confidence boost as they feel trusted to handle delicate objects. \r\n\r\nThe activity was separated into 6 different exhibits themed around the purpose of each object. Communication, entertainment, audio, etc. Students would move in groups between each section and read a short article about each of the objects. Using the information from the article and their physical observations the students would then create a \"patent\" of the object. This involved drawing a picture and writing a description of the innovation along with a write up on its history. \r\n\r\nOf course the most popular exhibit was the typewriter. Many of my students struggle with reading and writing but being able to write through a new medium enticed them enough to write lengthy letters on their own. They struggled with the process of typing but this too was a powerful learning opportunity. \r\n\r\nThe most common comment I received from my students was thankfulness, not just for the opportunity but in reflection. They hardly think critically about the technology and innovations they use everyday. Many students could not believe people used to use these objects everyday for tasks. \r\n\r\nI also want to extend my thanks on behalf of our student teachers who travelled from the University and took part in the activity. Many new teachers are hesitant or nervous about interacting one on one with students and this was a wonderful opportunity for them.","fullyFundedDate":1729596639076,"projectUrl":"project/retro-museum/8893867/","projectTitle":"Retro Museum","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Yamada","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9449219"},{"teacherId":8394273,"projectId":9168088,"letterContent":"Mahalo for the donations.
