Hi there! I have the amazing opportunity to teach a group of 10 students with severe handicaps. My students are ages 8-10 but function at developmental levels ranging from PreK/toddler-first grade, with the average being around PreK-Kindergarten. Their disabilities range from Intellectual Disabilities such as Down Syndrome to Deaf-Blindness and Orthopedic Impairments. I absolutely love going to work every day because my students have personalities that make me laugh and smile. They deserve the absolute best educational experience possible because they are all so special and important members of society!
The majority of my students also come from low-income families; My students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Regardless, they always manage to come to school excited and smiling. I look forward to going back to work after a nice weekend for this very reason!

My Project
My students benefit from specialized materials that will help them meet their academic goals. I am requesting the aforementioned materials because I want my students to have more opportunities to access their knowledge. File folder activities and puzzles are excellent opportunities for students to practice their skills and to become more independent with their learning.
I am also requesting cleaning supplies because a messy classroom is not conducive to learning!
I try my best to keep my classroom as clean and tidy as possible so that they are safe and comfortable. However, cleaning supplies are limited. These supplies will ensure that my students and myself have what we need to learn in a clean environment.
