My Students

I teach freshmen and sophomore students from a large range of socioeconomic backgrounds. My program specializes on the human-centered design process and learning through project-based learning. The teachers connect with students daily on their current focus and tasks. Students often give presentations and pitches to their teachers, the administrations, local community members, and industry professionals. They provide frequent feedback to one another on their performance and adjust their efforts based on the constructive criticism.

My students confidently interact with one another in a professional manner to achieve a common goal.

All of my students have had struggles with working collaboratively and have done great work in resolving these issues. Most of my students have been forced to sacrifice comfort for growth as they stretch into new roles and embrace new possibilities.

Many students enjoy the hands-on approach of our school as they intend to join a trade school or profession upon graduation. Others are appreciative of the prevalent opportunities to practice collaboration in preparation for their joining the work force. The rest enjoy the depth of understanding the gain of each topic as they look forward to extending this knowledge at college.

My Project

These kits will be used to help students understand the basic concepts of electricity as well as the practical applications of basic circuitry such as that used in a basic light switch. They will be able to create unique solutions to challenges and tasks in the classroom, or at home.

This will give them a stepping stone to understanding the more difficult problems encountered during our interactions with industry professionals.

We reach out to the community looking for the problems which students may solve through the human-centered design process. This connects the student with industry professionals and teaches them how to conduct themselves maturely and professionally while also allowing them the unique opportunity to be creative in their solution.

Giving the student the basic understanding of electrical circuits broadens their potential to encompass a much larger range of possible solutions to their client's problems. The learning from this kit can be used to incorporate lights, motors, generators, electrochemical storage, and more. Seeing the students use this knowledge for innovative engineering will be extremely rewarding!
