Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school saying is, "Better today than yesterday! Better tomorrow than today!" I want to make their tomorrow better!
My class consists of a diverse group of learners.
My class has 26 second grade students of varying abilities. The socio-economic background of our students is reflected by our 97% free and reduced-price lunch rate.
I teach in an urban inner city school rich with diversity. I teach at a NAESP school. Most of my students need additional learning material to meet grade level expectations. Please help me to make tomorrow better for them!
My Project
My students are really energetic and inquisitive! They really enjoy learning about animals.
By learning about creatures in the Universe students will start to have compassion for living things and learn how to live with them in nature.
My students need Learning Center Games such as: Life Cycles, All About Animals, Land Habitats, Reptiles Amphibians and Fish, and Where Do Animals live in order to learn about animals and their surroundings.
Having the Books Fiction-Nonfiction Set will allow my students the ability to learn about animals and why it's important to protect them in our world. Having multiple copies of National Geographic Sharks, National Geographic Weird Sea Creatures, and the Ultimate Sticker Books will allow my students to be able to read about animals and learn about them. I feel the more they know about animals the more they will feel connected to animals and want to protect them in nature.
I am hoping to instill a level of compassion for every living thing in the world around them by having them study animals up close in these books I've chosen and play games about animals and their habitats in the classroom. This is Part 2 of our project. Learning Brings Caring was funded and now we want to add to our resources in the classroom to help develop a compassionate group of students.
