Learning and Growing with Anna, Our New School Facility Dog

Help me give my students some activities to do with our new school facility dog!

My Project

New to our school this year is Anna, a trained facility dog, beloved by all who know her. Already she has made massive changes in the tone and environment of the classroom, helping students to de-escalate in heightened situations, supporting and soothing students experiencing anxiety, recognizing students who need extra love and attention, and even helping me to connect with more students as she facilitates my relationships with all kids, in and out of my classroom. She has made a huge impact in helping to promote positive social emotional interactions between the students.

My students would be able to show and express for feelings for Anna by showing their sentences or spelling words by using doodle boards, play a card game with Anna using the Taco, cat cards, or just relax with Anna using the lavender scented Lab Warmies to decompress.

These materials would benefit our facility dog and all our love for Anna.
