This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The Global Citizen Leadership Class is based on community partnerships and real-world solutions to problems. We are a class and club of action, hard work, and building positive relationships with others. Students are challenged to follow their dreams of a better world and are given the tools to see their leadership projects come to fruition.

Our school is located in a very low socioeconomic area, and our students are often in need of great amounts of community assistance just to survive.

My students intimately know all too well the challenges our community is facing due to COVID. We are returning to school toward a new normal and navigating how to make our passion projects a reality given restrictions. My students are engaged, excited, and ready to roll up their sleeves and help to rebuild our school community through service. My students need to learn from those who have fought for equality, social justice and are on the right side of history. Give us the gift of books and learning, so that we can become the next generation of great leaders in our society!

My Project

We are back in the classroom and our leadership class has grown! We have so many new and eager students that want to step up and make a difference in our community. We have to start by learning what leadership is, what it takes and how to start a movement within our school of service learning. We are excited to get going and need some powerful stories from people who have shaped the world we live in and have challenged the notion of what can and cannot be done. Our student leaders are ready to take on the status quo of social justice and are waiting for true inspiration! Give them the gift of leadership by reading about the lives of social justice heavyweights!
