Launching a New Student Food and Hygiene Pantry

My Project

Our school is filled with incredible, hard-working K-12 students who bring amazing energy and determination to our hallways every single day. They are resilient, deeply supportive of one another, and eager to learn, but they deserve to focus on their education without worrying about their most basic physical needs. To help them thrive, we want to ensure that hunger and personal hygiene never stand in the way of their school day.

Our goal is to expand our student hygiene services and establish a new, discreet take-home food pantry directly in the school counseling office.

What started a few years ago as a small initiative to distribute hygiene supplies has grown into a heavily utilized resource, and we have outgrown our current space. Additionally, while we offer a twice-weekly snack program, many of our students face food scarcity when they are away from school. This new pantry will offer reliable access to shelf-stable nutrition over weekends and school breaks.

The requested storage cabinets and containers will allow us to safely store and organize these community donations, while the deodorant will immediately restock our shelves. Keeping these resources in the counseling office gives students a private, stigma-free environment to get the daily essentials they need. By removing these basic barriers, you are directly helping our students attend class feeling clean, confident, nourished, and fully ready to learn.
