Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first-graders are full of energy and love to read, read, read. That's what first grade is all about. It's the year we learn to read...the year we learn the primary skill that opens all future doors for us.

Our diverse classroom portrait showcases the multicultural backgrounds represented in our community.

My students live in the largest agricultural region in America. Our school is a Targeted Assistance School for Title I and we receive a grant so that 100% of our population gets both free breakfast and lunch.

My first-grade ‘balls of energy’ show up bright-eyed every day ready to attack the day. I want the best learning environment possible for them. My wish is for them to have the tools and skills they need to grow into the best versions of their future selves.

My Project

First-graders learn through play. Without lamination, learning games and practice materials can wear out very quickly. A laminator, laminating pouches, and card stock will help me keep the classroom stocked with engaging activities.

I selected special pencil grips to help little ones learn how to properly hold their pencils.

Distance learning made it very difficult for many of my students to learn proper letter formation.

There is also a word mapping kit included so I can help beginning readers and writers find the confidence to sound out and write small words.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
