Koo Koo for Our ABC Countdown

Help me give my students Koo Koo Kangaroo shirts for our end of year ABC Countdown

My Students

Our classroom is a positive learning environment where kindergarten students learn, play, and grow every day. These students come to school every day eager to learn.

Every day is a chance to learn.

I strive to create a learning environment where each child can grow and succeed. Each day, they get the opportunity to practice important skills that help them learn and progress. We work together in a variety of ways including small groups, one-on-one, and the whole group.

Our school is a Title I school located in Peninsula, OH. About half of our students come from low-income households. Our school believes in "Every Child, Every Day." We do everything we can to meet the needs of all of every child, every day.

My Project

Each year in kindergarten we count down the last 26 days of school with an ABC countdown. Starting with A, we do fun things each day associated with each letter of the alphabet. We end the year with Z as students "Zoom" off to first grade!

Students have the absolute best time participating in the alphabet countdown!Some of the days in the countdown require students to bring in items from home and many students are unable to do this.

This project will help provide items for the alphabet countdown for ALL students so no one feels left out!

On Day 11 of our ABC Countdown, we are on the letter "K". K day is Koo Koo Kangaroo day. Koo Koo Kangaroo is the name of the character in fun and engaging brain break videos on YouTube. We dance to these songs all year and the kids love them! So for K day, we spend all day dancing to our favorite Koo Koo Kangaroo videos.

Last school year on K day, I wore a custom-made T-shirt that said Koo just like the Koo Koo Kangaroo character. My students were in awe that I dressed just like the character and I even heard some kids say "I wish I had a Koo Koo Kangaroo shirt." This year, I would like to provide all of the students with their own shirts for this day. I know they will love the shirts, but more importantly, it helps my students create memories of all the fun we had in kindergarten. Throughout the day, students will dance to the Koo Koo Kangaroo videos which will support the growth of their gross motor skills. The shirts will support the students' social and emotional learning while helping unite the students and strengthen our classroom community.
