Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am incredibly lucky to teach a group of curious, energetic, and hardworking students who thrive when they can learn by doing. My students come from diverse backgrounds and have a wide range of learning styles, but they all share one thing in common: the "lightbulb moment" that happens when a difficult concept finally clicks. Math can often feel like a series of abstract rules and confusing symbols, which can be intimidating for young learners. These resources will change that by turning math into a tactile, hands-on experience.

The fraction tiles will allow my students to physically see how "parts of a whole" work, helping them compare sizes and understand equivalency far better than a drawing on a whiteboard ever could.

Our place value sets will give them a concrete way to build large numbers, transforming "ones, tens, and hundreds" from words into objects they can hold and move. Finally, the geometry matching games will build their spatial reasoning and vocabulary through play, making shapes and their attributes memorable. By donating to this project, you are providing the tools necessary to build a solid mathematical foundation and the confidence my students need to see themselves as capable mathematicians.
