My students need 3 Kindle Fires in our classroom to be able to have another way to read to themselves. We will have access to the local library to check out books.
What a difference a generation makes! I can't believe the technology that is available to kids these days. I feel that it is necessary to keep up with the technology, but teach our children that it can be used for in many educational ways.
From here to there and everywhere!
I feel like my classroom is a Dr. Seuss book- One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish Blue Fish! My students come from many different places, but in our classroom we are our own community. I teach fairness, equality, and create a positive classroom environment so that these students know when they enter our school, and especially our classroom, they are loved and lucky!
I am lucky enough to have participated in Scholastic Book orders and have been able to buy many books for our classroom library. They are wonderful and very well used. I am asking for three Kindles for my classroom because I have realized that I can use my local library to rent books for the Kindle. The students will be able to find many books in my classroom library, and I will be able to rent several books of their choosing from the local library for the Kindle. I feel that being able to find the just right book is just what I need to keep motivating my students to be good readers. We recently learned ways to pick books that are best for us, and this will help me in our journey to success in reading.
Another reason I am excited to have Kindles in our classroom is because there are different apps that I can download for the Kindle that the students can record themselves reading. Another proven way to help a child read is for them to hear what they sound like.
Connecting with students is the hardest part of my job.
Having resources in my classroom to help with this makes my job just that much easier. I am grateful for my experience in the classroom and for resources that I have to make learning for my students more exciting. I like to be able to provide the best learning environment and I feel that having Kindles in the classroom is just what I need. What better way to connect with my students than to be able to find whatever book suits them best!
