This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Please help us enjoy all the fun that carpet time has to offer! The carpet that we have now is very small. My students are always struggling to find their own space and often find themselves all scrunched up and unable to participate in all the learning that our daily carpet time has to offer

Many of my Kindergarteners have their first experience in any school setting right in my classroom.

They are all English Language Learners who are excited and eager to take advantage of all the learning that their new school and teacher want to give them. Our school is filled with hard working teachers who are inspired by the hard work of it's parents and families in search of a better life for their children. We do all we can to provide the best education that we can for our kids but in these tough economic times, things like a new carpet seem unattainable to us. So thank you for taking the time to read our story and please keep us in mind as you donate. Successful students equal a bright future for everyone!

My Project

Carpet time is many students favorite time of day (not to mention mine!) Each morning when my students come into the classroom we go directly to the carpet and begin talking about all the exciting things ahead of us that day. We do the calendar, sing, read stories, learn new vocabulary words, new letters and sounds, and so much more. For many of them it is the first time to hear a book read to them filled with colorful pictures or use their imagination to make predictions about things like stories, weather, or events of the day ahead. The classroom rug is a place where students learn to have the confidence to participate and the self-discipline to be great listeners.
