My Students

At our school, you'll hear students asking questions to learn more about each other. Students respect that we are a diverse community with different religions, foods, clothes, countries of origin, and family styles and practices. Our students come to school every day to learn, share their talents, and include others in their daily activities. In class, students ask questions, explain their thinking, and show their work. They know that effort leads to greater intelligence.

Our students strive to be amazing human beings.

Although this is a fairly large campus, the students here are compassionate and kind toward everyone whether they are in Pre-K or 5th grade. They welcome diversity and inclusiveness and are willing to learn more about each other, creating a sense of community on campus.

My Project

The students at Kiker Elementary have a Brain Lab in the counselor's office. Here, students can learn about their feelings and how they are connected to their brains. Students have three stations to rotate to in the Brain Lab. They begin to regulate their feelings and calm down, then when they are ready they move on and learn about why they have these Big Feelings.

The seats on this list are some things that we still need in our Lab in order for us to have enough seating preferences and space for students to spread out in our lab.

Also, we are in need of musical instruments to help the students who are more auditory learners, a chance to regulate using beats and soothing sounds.
