Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Sometimes it feels like there is a disconnect between different groups of students and even teachers in our school community. This impacts how our students treat one another and their teachers. Empathy, kindness, patience, understanding, and respect for one another have decreased, and I want to find ways to improve these qualities and make our school community better by having our Student Council representative lead and create a community service project within our school!

Our Kids Being Kind community service project aims to foster kindness throughout the school by hosting a Friendship Table, led by classroom representatives and Student Council officers.

The students will actively engage in school community service by creating a Friendship Table during lunch using the new board games and classic toys purchased. This Friendship Table will include a variety of board games and toys creating opportunities for all students to practice compassion, kindness, and inclusion by inviting groups of students and teachers to learn new games or play ones they are already familiar with, and to make new friends during lunch! Students will gain new social skills and practice kindness and inclusivity.

Our students truly value how their peers perceive them, so if the student council members and class reps can help create a kinder, more positive school atmosphere, it will increase their self-esteem and strengthen relationships and connections among all students.

Thank you for considering giving to our Kids Being Kind community service project! I know they will be delighted to learn, play new games together, and create new friendships! This is sure to brighten their day, lift their spirits, and make our school a more positive place to learn and grow!
