My Students

I am a general education school social Worker in Oak Park, Mi. I service my whole school which consists of approximately 580 students and 55 teachers. The population is predominantly African American students struggling with adverse circumstances. I am trying to build my resources for students at KEY to address the different issues each student is struggling with issues in an entertaining way. I really appreciate it if you can help me with my collection to support my students better help their social emotional and behavioral needs. Most resources I own come from my personal income, and the cost seems to grow. Anything you can do I greatly appreciate.

My Project

sensory room with support our students deal with difficult emotions and/or sensory needs through the school day. This will be available to the whole school as a student needs it. Students with sensory needs may include students on the Autism spectrum, sensory disorders, or dealing with strong emotions. A student will go to the room, when needed, to do various sensory tools to address their needs at that moment. These activities may be tactile, visual, auditory, smell, and/or taste. The items being asked for will start a sensory room at our school.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
