Welcome to my Kindergarten class! Each year new students arrive to my class with varying abilities, as well as, diverse life experiences and cultural backgrounds. They are always excited to come to school and learn new things. My students strive to be kind, caring and giving. They enjoy yoga and relaxation times, as well as, anything that involves song and movement. They love to play, build, and create. They also love to use our many digital learning platforms on our iPads. They quickly become quite skilled at using their devices and platforms to my amazement. They grow tremendously through out the year and leave Kindergarten reading, writing, adding and subtracting. They bloom like flowers when provided an engaging, fun environment with numerous hands on materials and experiences.
My Project
Since COVID, my Kindergarten classroom has changed a lot for my little learners. My students this past year used technology all day. I predict that technology is here to stay in the future. It is so important for Kindergarteners to still develop their fine motor skills and proper pencil grip along with their increased technology usage. Usage of iPads requires only a one finger touch. This causes a lack of development in important fine motor skills, especially proper pencil grip. We used these crayon styluses with great success this past year thanks to the generous donations to a previous project. The styluses unfortunately need to be replaced frequently due to little learners using them constantly throughout the day. My class is in need of new crayon styluses for the next school year to help us to continue to be successful with using our iPads and developing our fine motor skills.
Kid Crayon Styluses will enable my students to continue to develop very important fine motor skills while using technology.
The stylus is held like a pencil and works on the screen just like using your finger. Many students find it very frustrating to draw and write on a touch screen with their fingers. The styluses enable students to complete iPad activities with greater ease and success.
I have ordered multiple packs because these styluses are consumable and wear out frequently. I need to have enough to last the entire school year. I also would like each of my students to have styluses for home usage as well. By providing these for home usage as well, I am hoping to increase home engagement.
