Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a wide range of cultural and economical structures. My classroom is a blended community of bilingual students, low income, and middle class families, students with special needs, and students who are TAG. This makes differentiation crucial to their learning experience and also brings a multitude of lenses to our lessons.

My students love hands-on learning experiences where they get to apply what they've learned in class and make it relevant to their world around them.

They aren't afraid to ask questions and take risks because they know our classroom is a safe place to do so.

My Project

My students are learning how to use calming techniques to regulate their zones. We have many discussions throughout the year about how and when to take breaks, ask for help, or use one of the spaces available to calm their bodies and minds.

I'd love to revamp our calming corner by adding a space where students feel safe and have a variety of tools to regulate themselves to be able to continue their learning.

This calming corner will be designed to give students a private space using the canopy, giving them a spot to sit with the bean bag chair, and several sensory focused tools to refocus their attention and get them into the green zone for learning.
