They are all park Ranger experts now, and this beautiful sketchbook was the culminating prize to honor all that they had accomplished.\r\n\r\nI can't thank you all enough for donating to this project. To the seven Patterson families, I wish you could've seen your children and grandchildren, squeal with delight when they received this gift. To the donors beyond my school community, thank you for supporting this mission of getting young children excited about our National Park System! We are taking our State Math Test this morning and I wish I could have recorded the squeals of delight as my students found the Positive Potatoes on their desks just now! They have already come up with names for them! \r\n\r\nI can't tell you how much this small crochet doll changed the air pressure in the room. Instead of stress and anxiety, there are giggles, smiles and joy. They loved being able to dig into their imaginations and create an item of their choice. It was interesting to see them find that they could mold one thing, then change their mind and make something else entirely with the foil. My students nearly lost their minds when they walked into the classroom on Wednesday, January 29th to the big surprise. I was greeted with squeals, high fives, hugs, and \"thank you Miss D!\" from my students.\r\n\r\nThis project will be providing a traditional treat for each day of the Lunar New Year that they are in school, which is 13 total! We were running really low on some supplies in class that have either worn out or been used up. The project is also providing some really fun rewards for students earning 20 Wilderness Explorer Badges at the end of the year, such as the Elmer's Gue and Ellie Soda Pop Badges. \r\n\r\nWe will be putting the mini composition books to great use in a few weeks. They will be handed out as part of a reward I am giving students for earning their Cursive License. I know the kids will absolutely love them! The white bags are going to be a back up for Valentine's Day cards so that every child has a way to take their valentines home at the end of the day on Feb. 14th. \r\n\r\nWe have been doing lots of art projects this year that have required a fine tip black pen. With 30 students, I no longer have a working class set of pens, so these are just in time for restocking! I am sure The Elf on the Shelf at home experience for many of my students got their creative juices flowing too.\r\n\r\nOut of their interest and excitement came the idea for this Donors Choose Project. We now have gnome hats, stickers decals, regular stickers and three books to read that share all about gnomes. Along with that, each child will get a special \"gnome in your pocket\" to take home after the experience, which I am sure they will hold onto for quite some time. I plan on taking lots of photos with the photo booth gnome props and green streamer backdrop, which I am sure the parents will love too.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for helping me to add this fun learning opportunity for my students to my classroom.
