My Students

I'm an inclusion teacher at a Title I school in Hawaii. There might be negative stereotypes about the people on the Leeward coast of Oahu, but they are only stereotypes. My students come from a variety of backgrounds, from single-parent households and families with two working parents with multiple jobs, to families with comfortable living situations. With their diverse backgrounds, they all have a few things in common.

My students are enthusiastic, caring individuals who love learning and hands-on activities.

I teach an amazing class of eight and nine-year-olds. Regardless of what life throws at them, they always show up to school ready to learn, do their best work, and cheer each other on. They help nurture each other's growth in and out of the classroom. They are determined to make each day better than yesterday, and I am lucky to call them my students.

My Project

The second semester is beginning and more precautions need to be taken to keep my students safe. The Omicron variant is highly contagious and spreading quickly. These masks and air filters will help to prevent this virus from spreading through my classroom. The filters will clean and cycle the air in my room 3-6 times per hour while the masks will add extra layers of protection.

I need these items to keep our air clean while at the same time, making class as normal or as close to the pre-Covid times as I can.

That's were the other materials come in. My marble run is in dire need of replacement. It was in my class before I became a teacher over 14 years ago and is definitely showing its age. The zipper pouches will keep my students' books clean and organized. The timers, cards, and place value pieces will be used during small and whole group instruction and the books will allow for more choices for my students so there are less books exchanging hands.

Thank you for helping me to keep my classroom safe for my students and fostering a healthy learning environment.
