My Project

You've heard it said that "the kitchen is the heart of the home." Why? Because people come together, be it family or friends, to share a meal and share their lives here. My students come together in my classroom - a large room consisting of 4 kitchenettes - and quickly become a family, learning to cook, eating their meals, and sharing their stories. We are a NJ high school consisting of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. We believe that programs, such as my culinary arts program, contribute positively to transform lives.

The culinary arts program teaches a valuable life skill and can open doors to new career opportunities.

This program benefits from a strong foundation and community support in all our endeavors.

This project is for basic cleaning and sanitation supplies to keep the students safe and healthy in the beginning of the year. Food service gloves, soaps, sponges, disposable dishware, are necessary to prevent cross-contamination of surfaces and to stop the spread of germs in the kitchens.

This class is an elective, and the students vie every year to have this class on their schedule. They are mature, motivated individuals, eager to share their skills and learn new ones. They work hard, but they have lots of fun here. They make new friends and wonderful memories in this class.
