The headphones are crucial to our setup so students can hear themselves, focus on their own independent work. When headphones go down, it is a huge barrier to learning in our classroom. We've learned four songs out of our lesson book and just started our first song using both hands at the same time. AND we have enjoyed our play-a-longs to the hits of Bon Jovi, White Stripes, a dance hit called Sandstorm, and just about to start a song by Rihanna at the end of the week. When hunger sets in, focus drops, making these snacks an absolute necessity for our students' success.\r\n\r\nOur choir classes are off to an amazing start this year! We've been working hard on vocal warm-ups, mastering our sight-singing skills, and developing balance and independence in our harmonies. Our singers are already performing out in the community—we were honored to sing for our city's September 11th Remembrance Ceremony. Thank you! \r\n\r\nWe are so proud that our students earned one of the only SUPERIOR ratings in the State of NJ. It was our first time achieving this honor at Rahway High School. We first attended this festival when our seniors were freshmen, now as members of our select choir, they led our program to new heights. We are so proud of them and their growth.
