Keeping it Cool in Kindergarten!

My Project

Take a moment to think about your kindergarten experience. Did you just get a feeling of nostalgia, too? Kindergarten is an amazing and fun time that teaches you the foundations of reading, writing, and math. My students are getting that same experience but we need a cooler environment to work in.

The children I teach are energetic, wonderful, hardworking students.

Some of them come from situations that no one should ever experience. They impress me every day with their awesome attitudes and desire to learn. We are a full-day kindergarten class at a Title I school. Most of our students qualify for the free breakfast and lunch program. The student population is 33% Caucasian, 26% Hispanic, 12% Asian, 11% African American, and 28% other.

We are asking for a portable air conditioner for our classroom. Our classroom is air conditioned but it breaks down all the time and can get unbelievably hot on a warm day.

We are in need of a way to cool down our classroom to keep students from melting down both physically and social emotionally.

Not only will this support our students but it will support all the other staff who will be coming in and out of our room. Being able to stay cooler will be a help for all.
