Keeping COVID far away, every day

Help me give my students supplies that help us avoid COVID while we learn in person on our campus.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high-poverty school with 100% of the students qualifying for free lunch, my students are faced with several challenges both inside and outside of the classroom. These children encounter issues that most adults are not equipped to handle. Because they face so many challenges, I feel it is my duty to provide creative and meaningful learning experiences.

COVID 19 has devastated my school community and we are in need of resources that can help combat the effects of the pandemic.

My scholars live well below the poverty line with 100% of my students receiving free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. Additionally, a high percentage of the children are being raised in single-parent households, live with various relatives, or are in foster care. My classroom is extremely diverse and includes English speaking and different levels of English Language Learners. These children deserve a chance to be successful and I will do what it takes to help them get there.

My Project

There has been a recent rise in positive COVID cases across our city. It is a constant struggle to have a group of children follow protocols regarding hygiene and cleanliness. As educators, we have to ensure we are intentional with our cleaning and sanitizing methods so as to keep our students healthy and safe.

Preventing COVID from entering our classroom means students stay healthy, which in turn, allows them to engage in on-campus learning.

Students who are learning in the classroom tend to perform much better than those studying virtually. I am requesting a HEPA air filter and cleaning supplies to keep the classroom sanitized, extra clothing items for student hygiene, and snacks to help keep them engaged while learning throughout the long school day.

The supplies requested will be used to keep my student's classroom environment clean, healthy, and comfortable.
