Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are all unique and learn in many different ways. They are curious and need to be able to actively participate in their learning environment.
Our school has students ranging from pre-K to fourth grade.
My classroom consists of 15 amazing children. They range in age from three to five. Some of my students have Individualized Education Plans. The students with disabilities in my classroom vary. I have students who are unable to walk independently; students who are non-verbal; and students who have sensory needs that impact their education and social skills on a daily basis.
My students come from a variety of cultures, socioeconomic sectors, and family structures. Although they are all unique, they all have a common goal to be lifelong learners. They are curious and energetic. They play and move to learn. Even at a young age, they learn to work together to explore their environment and solve problems. My students have so much to offer, they teach me every day!
My Project
Each day when my students come to school they start their day by eating breakfast. If they have already eaten, choose not to eat, or finish, they then have the opportunity for free choice. During free choice, children have the opportunity to independently make choices. It gives them time to work independently or collaboratively.
The stacking containers will help to organize and create a variety of morning tubs.
Students will be able to choose their own morning tub and switch tubs when they are ready. The building blocks will support them in increasing their fine motor skills. They will also allow them to create. The tweezers, pom poms and cupcake liners will encourage them to sort. They will also have the opportunity to engage in pretend play with the animals, trees, and fence pieces. Please help my students to have access to a variety of materials to keep their hands and minds busy! Young children learn best through play.
