Help me give my students tools to work on their social-emotional learning skills and support them in their journey to get stronger with self-management skills and spend more time on instruction in the classrooms.

My Project

Our students are getting strong at self-management skills and remaining in their classrooms. We are seeing more growth in our students as we continue to work on identifying our emotions and selecting effective strategies to help with self-regulation, building stronger relationships, and taking care of our bodies and well-being.

We are resetting our expectations in this new year and revamping our "Think Space" to ensure appropriate resources are available to students.

We have selected noise-canceling headphones to help quickly reduce stimuli and help get centered to minimize the potential escalation of emotions. We have also selected some fidget toys, magnetic cubes, and tiles to help with sensory regulation. We have also selected books to help explicitly teach emotions (anger, sadness, feeling blue, anxiety, etc.) Our students are learning that we all have emotions, big or small, but need to find healthy ways to express them and also build awareness of how they impact our community.
