My students come from low socio-economic homes and have special needs. I want to enhance their educational experience with some hands-on Science projects, and tie dye kits.
As we dive into Spring, we have a huge plant and insect unit coming up.
I want the units to be made real for them. The joy of seeing the life cycle of plants is amazing to see through their eyes. Each and every year I am truly blown away at their level of inquiry and engagement. I want that for my class this year as well.
Last year, our bean plants in our school garden grew so much that we have vines growing. Our class was the only one to be successful and we charted the growth and created a whole informational project based on the plants. That is something I enjoyed teaching and they enjoyed learning. I definitely want to be able to continue that exploration this year.
In my previous project I asked for art supplies. I intend to use these books to help them see different types of flowers and plants so that they can choose which one to research as well as depict in their paintings. I am so excited to expose my kids to a new unit in a fun and engaging way!
