Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

You know the expression "need to jump through hoops" to get something done. Well, my students would like some jump ropes and hula hoops to get great exercise and have some fun!

My students come from diverse cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.

They all attend the neighborhood public elementary school. Our school population includes second language learners, gifted students, special education students and a majority of students that receive free lunch.

My Project

"The ball is flat again!" "Room 1 was in our area!" "There were too many kids playing handball, I didn't get a turn!" These complaints and others like them could be eliminated with individual exercise equipment available on the schoolyard. Did you know that even by 3rd grade, many students have not been exposed to jumping rope? It is a great exercise to do alone or with friends! I'd like my students to have the opportunity to jump to their heart's content.

Kids today are amazing at video games, know how to use the computer, and watch a lot of TV.

What they don't do enough is get outside and exercise. Obesity is a growing problem in America and I don't want my students to become part of the statistic! The idea of individual jump ropes and hula hoops is for them to have fun and constantly be moving! There is no line to wait in to play, no time wasted choosing teams, and every minute to spend moving! Our kids today need FITNESS . Please help.
