My Students
My students are pioneers! They have chosen to attend an Early College High School. This means they are working toward earning an Associate Degree in addition to their high school diploma at the end of four years. They would be the first generation of their family to attend college!
Most of my students are low-income, at-risk children from populations that are under-represented on college campuses.
However, they are dedicated to achieving their goal and want to make a better lives for themselves and their families through education.
Math is often a stumbling block for students, especially those who are first-generation college students. They often do not have the support they need at home. However, my goal is to work with every student so he/she feels successful and ready for college or for a job. If students can be successful in my class, then they are ready for early college classes. This means these students will realize that they can reach that dream of a college education and be one of the first in their families to graduate.
My Project
White paper is fine if you are making general copies of classroom materials, but sometimes you just need to create things on colored paper! Besides making copies, I like to use paper to make manipulative card matching activities, cut it in different shapes to write reflections on, and fold it to create graphic organizers. When everything is just plain white, it all blends in together and nothing is really memorable. Things in color are always better!
Colored paper helps information stand out, which helps with both creativity and organization!
Using colored paper instead of white paper all the time will add a little excitement to our lessons and activities. I'd like to purchase some reams of colored copy paper in a variety of different colors so we have a many different options for our classroom activities.
Last year was tough with Hurricane Harvey and a lot of change, so we're doing everything we can to make our school have the best learning environment possible!
