I've Got Rhythm!

My Students

Students at our school believe that music prepares the brain for achievement, fosters superior working memory and cultivates better thinking skills. We believe that instruments, such as guiros, maracas, and boomwhackers, can help us continue to create exciting ways to facilitate academic achievement.

Students at my school have proved time and time again that even though we are a high poverty school, we can accomplish many things.

We don't want our circumstances to keep us from being successful. Teachers, parents, and students have been working hard to support one another and continue to show growth each year.

My Project

New instruments have not been purchased for the general music classroom in a decade. Students are using instruments of poor quality. New instruments will mean that each child can practice the basic skills necessary to having a good music education. Instruments will make the lessons more exciting and enhance learning. Playing instruments of good quality will also give the students a sense of pride.

An entire school will have the opportunity to use these instruments.

Many of these students will be able to use these percussion instruments to improve basic skills needed for music education. Music is a natural outlet for creativity and self-expression. The sheer joy of making music in a group promotes socialization and a wonderful feeling of belonging.
