My students need 30 Improve Your Writing Word Bank Journals, 30 vocabulary journals, 30 daily language practice journals, 30 writing prompt journals, and 1 build-a-paragraph flip book!

WOW! What amazing, resilient, wonderful students I learn from each day! These children are in a very high-need school, a lot of them facing challenges that would bring some of us to our knees. I gaze out each day, amazed they are sitting in my classroom and draw from their strength and incredible energy!! They have a lot on their mind and a ton to say. I would love to be able to help them explore their creativity by putting their words on paper.

We are a title-one school with a lot of diversity. A good portion of the children's caregivers are not able to provide the bare minimum in school supplies. The students would love these journals to assist them with their vocabulary, writing and expressing themselves. We have written a few stories this year and two students from our class won awards at the district level! All of the students are very talented and wonderful who deserve to be educated to the best of my ability! These students lack the strategies of writing a basic paragraph and I want to assist them in being able to write in all genres, recognize voice, make their writing exciting and illustrate it. With budget cuts, I am exploring every way I can to keep my student's interest level peeked! I feel writing is very important, especially since it is one of their favorite subjects!

Having journals at their fingertips, not just notebooks, but journals specific to helping them with their writing would be exciting for them. They would have a journal to increase vocabulary because their exposure is so limited, a journal with writing prompts, a journal for them to write down fabulous and wonderful words and a journal to practice daily language. Together we would use the Build-A-Paragraph Flip Book, so we could have this down to a science!! It would be a direction, fun, and exciting for all of us!! All of these resources would be invaluable for all the students: English Language Learners, Special Needs, those that learn differently (because we all can learn!), and the list goes on. They would also be a resource to show growth!

Supporting our writing project would enable my children to express themselves on paper. They have a lot to say and I know it would make them feel great to see it on paper! You would also contribute to the students learning and retaining important writing strategies, which are currently an often neglected part of the curriculum.
