It's Time to Relax and Enjoy Reading!

Help me give my students seats for daily silent reading time. These will allow the kids to get comfortable around the room as they enjoy books and develop as readers. We can also use them outside in groups.

My Students

This group of eight year olds are just starting to bloom. They are working hard at tackling multiplication and connecting to stories. They love their stretch breaks and they sprint out the door to recess.

While PE and art are always their favorite weekly activities, they are finding their voices as writers and diving into finding meaning in books.

They thrive during their monthly activity with their kindergarten buddies. It's darling to see them get serious, speak gently, and model good behavior. These kids are on their way to being lifelong learners.

My Project

Every day we have a "relax and read" period in which the kids get to enjoy books they select.

Some of my 8-year-olds love to read, but many are just starting to connect with books.

It takes a lot of time to match their interests and reading levels with the correct book to keep them engaged and reading. These seats will allow them to relax around the room as they enjoy their books. With these chairs they can move out of their hard chairs, still have back support, be near a friend, and enjoy a book. The more effective reading time they have, the stronger readers they become.
