My Project

I teach in a special education high school life skills classroom with transition-aged students (14-21). Students in my classroom have exceptional learning needs and may come from low economical family backgrounds. They excel as visual and auditory learners. My classroom is composed of smaller groups, hands-on learning, modeling, repeated practice, engaging activities and materials, and high quality visual materials.

My students give their best every day!

They thrive within a routine and tackle their daily tasks and lessons no matter what obstacles may come in their way. Math can be one of the hardest subjects for my students to master and it is so important for their future independence in life. New math materials that focus on everyday math and budgeting will help to fine tune students’ skills. These new materials are linked to real-life everyday experiences with photos, clear graphics and step by step instructions.

A new, large digital display clock will be great to help my students with time management. Currently, we have an analog clock at the front of my classroom and my students struggle when looking at it. A 16.2 inch LED display clock will be easier for my students to access and will support them throughout their day. It is part of our daily routine to be informed on the date, time and temperature of the day. This clock with a large number display and color changing capability will help my students to manage time all throughout the day independently.
