It's The Most Wonderful Time Of Year - School Supplies!

My students need crayons, markers, colored pencils, glue sticks, and pencil cases to hold their materials.

My Students

I'm sure you've seen the Staples commercial that starts at the end of the summer. The parents skipping down the aisles of Staples, so joyous that the school year is starting. Then you have their children following behind who look completely miserable about the idea that summer is quickly ending.

I have been teaching in an urban school for the past 6 years.

We are a low-income school that services 10 different neighborhoods/communities in Massachusetts. I have spent my years teaching 2nd and 3rd graders. This upcoming year, I will have 23-38 children in my classroom. At this age, my students still love to color and draw. They love to do anything that involves art supplies!

My Project

Don't let that Staples commercial fool you! Kids love school supplies! If they have old, broken crayons you can't get them to color anything. Give them a never used crayon, and they'll create masterpieces! A brand new glue stick? Forget it, they'll tear up any paper just so they can glue it together to make "something" with it. Markers? Not dried out? They'll outline everything possible! Highlighters? You've NEVER heard a class so silent when they get to highlight passages in their reading. So, don't let those commercials fool you. Kids and teachers love school supplies! Every summer, I spend my time scouting the local ads to see what kind of deals I can get for school supplies. I end up spending a lot of my own money every year buying supplies for my students. The ones I am asking for are the supplies that I run out of the fastest throughout the year. We use our supplies for almost every lesson and activity!

Your donation will ensure that my students will have the appropriate supplies for projects and classroom activities throughout this year.

They would be so excited to see the new boxes of crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc.
