Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Practicing kindness and being kind to one another is a foundational social emotional learning skill that I teach in my classroom. I often model and practice kindness with my students and classroom staff. To spread kindness beyond our classroom, my students will be hosting a day of Kindness for our school community. Our school community would greatly benefit from identifying what kindness means and how to practice kindness with one another. My students will create a poster with the slogan "I am Kind by...", which individuals will add to using the Crayola Kindness markers. This poster will provide community members with the opportunity to reflect on how they are kind or practice kindness.

To reciprocate kindness, students will gift participants a squishy, candy, sticker or pencil as a token of kindness for adding to our poster.

We will also provide our community members Kind cards, which they may fill out and send to members of our community.

Students will also nominate Kindness ambassadors. These ambassadors will ensure to practice and model kindness for our entire school community. They will ensure that kindness is continuously practiced. These ambassadors will be rewarded with a certificate and squishmallow.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
