I am a Speech-Language Pathologist in an elementary school. My students range from pre-k through first grade (ages 3-8). I serve, on average, 50-60 students per week.
My students generally come from low-income homes, as we are a Title I school.
My students all have speech and/or language delays and we work very hard to "catch them up" so they can interact with their peers and teachers appropriately. I have some hard working, eager kids and I want to spoil them with fun and exciting therapy materials and activities.
My Project
During our speech therapy sessions, we often play games to break up the structured learning atmosphere. We incorporate many traditional games (i.e. Go Fish, Guess Who?) into our sessions to address skill such as pragmatics/peer interactions, grammar in spoken language, and articulation of individual targeted sounds.
Kids learn best through play.
Keeping their attention and interest means I have to introduce new and fun games/activities from time to time. The items I am requesting are perfect for the age and grade of my students. They can work together as groups/partners or individually while I am giving one-on-one instruction to a peer.
I am excited about the activities I have chosen. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
