Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The robotics team is comprised of forty-five, smart, creative, enthusiastic and dedicated students who are interested in pursuing careers in STEM fields in the future. They have a strong desire to succeed and love competing. We are a second season rookie team and have the basics to work with, thanks to two fully funded projects so far! One thing our team was woefully missing during last season's competition was swag.
The students' enthusiasm is really contagious, but enthusiasm alone is not enough.
Swag is how teams get their name and number out to other teams for alliance selection. We would really like to get the tools necessary to change that for this season!
We need some swag items to become fully recognized. Our district doesn't have the funds to purchase an item such as this, but our students want to prove that being poor does not equal being unsuccessful. Through your generosity, my students will be able to show that they have what it takes to be winners.
My Project
Building a great robot is definitely an advantage for being picked for a competition alliance but it's not enough! Being part of an alliance is how teams move into higher levels of competition. Not being picked for an alliance means you go home early and empty handed...no plaque...no trophy.
Beginner teams and even veteran teams get their name out to other teams by provided something eye catching, like a button pin.
The means to make button pins was the one thing our team lacked last year. We're hoping to change that for this upcoming season with a new button making machine! Help us get recognized easily!
