Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my class are very enthusiastic and love learning new things. As the pandemic hit our state, our local hospital was in dire need of chemical splash goggles. Knowing this, our students didn't hesitate to give them what little supply we had. Our students are kind and generous and always willing to help anyone in our community.

My Project

"Practice makes perfect" is a phrase I often repeat in class. However, without the right tools, it's a little challenging to achieve this practice. My students are very enthusiastic learners and love acquiring new scientific skills. Every year they collaborate with a group from UW-Milwaukee and participate in ongoing research using Zebrafish embryos.

This experience has not only brought a real-world application but has led to many "aha" moments in class.

It never fails that such work ignites their interest in the wide world of STEM careers and renews their commitment to science.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
