My Project

Our students get a big kick out of coming to the library! While they are required to read continuously throughout the day, the reading material is almost always selected or determined by someone else!

Visiting the library means our students can exercise their voice and choice to make decisions for self-selected reading!

Therefore, it is my goal as their librarian to provide the best variety of book genres and levels. Although our school only serves students in second and third grade, we have a wide variety of reading abilities within those two grade levels. This project is to help students access books they want to read and encourage enthusiasm for independent reading through book joy!

In addition, this project has ink, a tape dispenser, and other consumable materials we use throughout the year to process and circulate books to our students. As we look ahead to next year, these are the materials we will need to successfully run our library program.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
