My Students

I work at a school where 100% of our students receive free and reduced lunch and breakfast. My students are from vastly diverse backgrounds. Our diverse backgrounds include: Black, Hispanic, Asian, Caucasian, Native American, and Caribbean, just to name a few! They are always eager to learn, but frustration settles in with many because they are years below grade level academically. Many of them look forward to the 5 days in the week where they get to learn, grow and explore!

My Project

Our school is always finding ways to continuously push positive behavior as well as cultivate and promote SEL amongst students. We want students to continuously love coming to school amid the current pandemic. In order to continue to promote that, our school's PBIS committee has decided to open a PBIS store where students can earn "school money" (by displaying positive behavior) to use at the school store where they can buy school essentials from pencils, paper, and notebooks to snacks for after school or weekends. We want to reward our students for making positive choices every day.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
