Living in a low income/high poverty area, my students often do not have the support at home to make learning easy for them. They aren't given the experiences that most children have. Most haven't traveled to areas outside of their city. Some go home after school to stay with family members, friends, or even friends of friends. My students' families work hard to make ends meet, often at the expense of good, old-fashioned quality time.
I work in a Title 1 school where the students and their families, along with their successes, are a priority.
My students work extremely hard, each and every day. They come to school with smiling faces and stories to tell. Everyone wants to share the things that are going on in their lives.
My Project
I am requesting an iPad with Bluetooth capability.
Recently, I acquired Dash robots for my class so that I could teach my students how to code.
I am having to use old iPhones that have Bluetooth capibility. My students enjoy using Dash as he is, however, the screens on the iPhones are too small see the words on the coding app.
I would like my students to experience how to use the app where code is needed to make Dash work, as that requires a different level of thinking.
I am also requesting Otterboxes and a protection plan in case anything happens to the iPads.
