My students need an iPad 2 with a cover, screen protector, projector adapter, and $50 iTunes card to purchase educational apps and interactive books for student use.
Today, more than ever, students are expected to compete in today's technological world. Many students and children all over the country have access to computers, smart phones, tablets, and other devices in their schools and homes.
In my urban school, we have a wonderful computer lab, but it is closed for more than half of the year due to state testing.
We have broken Walkmans and old, slow computers in only a handful of classrooms for students to use everyday. If a student is lucky, their teacher has donated their old iPod for students to listen to books. How are my students supposed to learn about technology when they do not have access to it? Help me break this cycle.
My Project
By providing my students with an iPad 2 and accessories, exciting things will happen. Students will be able to read interactive books where with a flick of their finger they can know the definition or hear the spellings of unknown words. They can record themselves reading a book and listen back to help build their fluency levels. They can illustrate and add audio to stories they have written to truly "publish" their work. They can do this all while problem solving, working cooperatively with others, and gaining so much experience and background knowledge of how technology works: all things they need to be successful in college and beyond.
Please help me make a difference in my school and in my students' lives by bringing an iPad 2 and accessories to my classroom.
In addition to all the learning benefits this product brings, it will also motivate my students to learn. Thank you for your support!
