Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first graders come from disadvantaged backgrounds, ranging from homelessness, single-parent homes, traumas and many other challenges. Despite these issues, my amazing students have a desire to learn. At a young age they are determined and hard working.

My students need devices in the classroom to unlock tools necessary to aide them in learning English.

The iPads will allow students to practice the necessary skills needed to be successful. The iPads will help them read phonetically, improve comprehension, and sharpen their math facts.

My Project

The iPads will be used in group rotations for students to practice. One rotation will be listening, reading and answering questions about a story. Another rotation will be focusing on students learning to read using a phonics based program. The last rotation will be practicing math facts.

These programs will be accessed using iPads.

After explicit instruction from the teacher, students will be able to practice these skills using iPads in a rotation basis. The programs will allow for individualized instruction that is based on assessments to create a path for them to follow.

Some examples of these programs are: Smarty Ants, Raz Kids, Imagine Learning, and Xtra Math.
