My students have iPads for both reading and math; however, many cannot afford headphones. When students are not using headphones, the noise level can be very distracting to not only the students working, but also students who are meeting with the teacher. Some students are able to bring headphones. However, they don't last very long as they are of poor quality. Other headphones are also hand-me-downs. Students become frustrated when they break. We are fortunate to have amazing programs that the students can use. They include Smarty Ants for phonics, Razkids for comprehension, and Xtramath to help students with their basic facts. When the students work in class, learn lessons, and use technology, they become more likely to be successful in school.
