Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a K-8 school in Baltimore that serves a diverse population of students. My students are artistic, creative, and great thinkers! Students in my class enjoy engaging with a wide variety of texts from war novels to graphic novels.

They are eager to explore their interests.

My Project

Students engage with rigorous grade level texts every day in class. Having a collection of graphic novels will allow from students of different levels and languages to engage with the text being presented.

From being able to read Miles Morales to Maus, the access to these novels would allow them to see a different world that will empower them.

In addition, having white boards will allow for each student to actively participate in class, and enjoy sharing with the class without having to rely on a verbal response. I am excited to have a printer that will allow me to plan ahead and provide the necessary materials for my students everyday.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
