My classroom consists of 25 energetic third graders. We work as a group so that everyone is successful. Our class motto centers around a quote: Whatever we accomplish belongs to our entire group, a tribute to our combined effort - Walt Disney
My third grade class is located in the inner city and is considered a high poverty area.
The school is filled with many people who want to teach and even more students that want to learn. However, budget constraints have made it hard to provide students with the materials that will help them succeed at a high level. Students all learn in different ways that is why it is so important that we give each student what they need to be successful. About 1/3 of my class has learning disabilities. Therefore, I am always looking for something to support these students.
Having an interactive whiteboard would help immensely because it can keep students involved in lessons. They will be able to come up and actually circle the answer or write an answer. This is especially important for the students with short attention spans. By giving them a chance to move around it will redirect their attention to the lesson. It will also give me more options when teaching a concept especially for the visual learners in the classroom. Also, there are so many great activities that I am not able to utilize because I lack this technology. By being an interactive learner they will take more ownership of their learning and hopefully more successful.
This project will change my classroom immensely because it will open doors to so many activities that I have not been able to do with my students because of the lack of technology.
Plus it will make learning fun and help the whole class have a successful year.
